We are proud to announce that Mayor Leffingwell has proclaimed July 9-10, 2009 as Texas Premier Football Camp Days and July 11, 2009 as the Tee it up for Cole P. Golf Tournament Day.
Camp Information:
The two-day, non-contact football camp benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area will take place Thursday, July 9 and Friday, July 10 at St. Michael’s Catholic Academy (3000 Barton Creek Blvd. Austin, TX 78735) from 9AM to 3PM. Media opportunities will be available during this time.
The proclamation for the camp “recognizes the positive impact these former Longhorn stars have on the youth in our community” and welcomes hosts B.J. Johnson, Sloan Thomas and Michael Huff back for the third annual Texas Premier Football Camp benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area.
Former Longhorns in attendance during the camp will include: B.J. Johnson, Sloan Thomas, Michael Huff, Derrick Scott, Kwame Cavil, Justin Blalock, Chance Mock, Cory Redding, Bo Scaife, Kasey Studdard, Kalen Thornton, Roy Williams, Selvin Young and more. (Guests are subject to change.)

Media opportunities will be available during this time and during the post round dinner.
The Tee it up for Cole P. Golf Tournament proclamation honors Longhorn fans, the Pittman family and Cole’s teammates in celebrating his life on this day and for supporting a community dear to Cole’s heart in their efforts to raise funds for a field house at Evangel Christian Academy, Cole’s home church and high school in Shreveport, LA.
Former Longhorns confirmed to attend include: Chance Mock, B.J. Johnson, Sloan Thomas, Mike Adams, Rod Babers, Kwame Cavil, Josh Graham-Chapman, Tony Jeffery, Juan Kemp, Stevie Lee, Will Matthews, Maurice McCloney, Wane McGarity, Cosmo Palmieri, Chase Pittman, Cory Redding, Derrick Scott, Kasey Studdard, Kalen Thornton, Marcus Tubbs, Winfred Tubbs, Roy Williams and Selvin Young.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area (BGCAA) serves almost 10,000 kids every year and more than 1,000 every day via 15 Clubs in Travis County. More than a safe-haven for kids “at-risk,” Boys & Girls Club is a place that nurtures the limitless potential of our youth. BGCAA’s mission is – “to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us the most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.” With their doors open 245 days a year and more than 1,600 total hours of programming, BGCAA is playing a vital role in developing our community’s most precious, natural resource – our children!
The Cole Pittman Field House Fund was established in 2001 when Pittman, a sophomore who had played on defense in 23 games in two seasons at Texas, was killed in a tragic early morning car accident as he was returning to school from his family's home in Shreveport, LA. Funds raised in Pittman’s honor will be used to build a field house in his name at Evangel Christian Academy, Pittman's home church and high school.
The Texas Premier Football Camp in Austin is hosted by B.J. Johnson, Sloan Thomas and Michael Huff. In 49 career games (45 starts) at The University of Texas, Johnson made 152 receptions for 2,389 yards with 16 touchdowns while adding 14 rushes for 82 yards (5.9 avg.). Currently, Johnson and his father own a strategic marketing firm in Dallas. Johnson also owns a development company and has partnered with a friend to start a clothing line. Thomas played in 46 games (20 starts) for The University of Texas and caught 88 passes for 1,362 yards and 12 touchdowns. He currently works for The University of Texas – San Antonio in the Office of Development. As a Longhorn, Huff was selected to the 2005 College Football All-America Team and won the Jim Thorpe Award given to college football’s top defensive back. Huff currently plays safety for the Oakland Raiders. This year the camp expanded into Dallas in June and plans are in the works for the camp to expand to San Antonio in 2010.
